Rick's latest...

I looked high and low for something that would suit my driving style, and there it was staring right at me, the Honda Civic Cup, a one make championship, no classes, all cars on the grid the same, it brought back great memories when I contested the Honda CRX Challenge, these cars being somewhat similar to the CIVIC.

Having conversations with existing sponsors FUSION EVENTS.COM, ALEC GALLOWAY, RUSSELL HOUCHIN, BRIAN VARNEY and KEN HALL we all agreed it was certainly the way to go. I put a proposal together and presented them to my sponsors. Unfortunately, FUSION decided not to continue, as they are so worried about the possible outcome of BREXIT. Wishing me all the best and to keep them informed.

Alec Galloway, Russell Houchin have been amazing they have both massively increased the sponsorship from last year, telling me I had so much bad luck for my first year back racing after a 25 years.
I deserve to find a team and car that will give me the opportunity to race more competitively.

I’m delighted to announce that I’ve found a team and car that hopefully can do just that. The car pictured is the car I will race this year, it was the car that took Driver and team owner of “AREA MOTORSPORT” ROBERT BAKER to winning the “2018 HONDA CIVIC CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

Rob runs several cars in this championship all prepared to a very high standard. From the moment I arrived for my first run in the car at Snetterton on the 25th February I could see they were a professional set up, it brought back memories of the teams I raced with many years ago. My first run at Snetterton was fantastic, it felt like a proper race car, the speed acceleration and handling were amazing, it’s going to take me a race or two to find the limits of myself and the car. After a few exploratory laps checking systems and personal comfort in the car I returned to the pits to have a few adjustments, then it was back out to dial myself into the car.

I did experience some gear changing difficulties which still requires perfecting but I’m sure it will be sorted come the first Race. It wasn’t long before I felt as one with the car it was a joy to drive. And can’t wait to get back into the car.
